Digital menus for seafood restaurants

A digital menu for a marisqueira is the list of shellfish, fish and house dishes published as a web page that guests open with the QR code on the table. It is the kind of place where prices change most often and allergens are most serious — two reasons not to rely on a printed menu.

Updated October 2026

Price per kilo, not “market price”

Prawns, lobster, crab, goose barnacles, grilled fish: nearly everything in a marisqueira is sold by the kilo, and the price follows the fish market. That is why so many printed menus say “preço sob consulta” — which puts off exactly the visitors who do not dare to ask.

On a digital menu you can write the price per kilo (or per 100 g) and update it before each service in seconds. Explain in the description how it is charged: “weighed at the table before cooking”, “price per 100 g”. Platerio never invents prices — when a price on the original menu cannot be read, it is left blank for you to confirm.

Crustaceans and molluscs: the most serious allergens in the house

Crustaceans (prawns, lobster, crab) and molluscs (clams, mussels, octopus, squid) are among the 14 mandatory allergens of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, and among those that cause the most severe reactions. Dishes such as seafood rice or cataplana contain both, and often fish in the stock.

List each one dish by dish, including what is hidden — the seafood stock, the garlic butter, the bread. The allergen guide explains what the law requires.

What runs out comes off the menu

The amêijoas à Bulhão Pato are gone, the barnacles did not arrive, the octopus is dinner only. Marking a dish as sold out from your phone stops guests choosing it and then changing their minds at the table. See also how it works in the Algarve and the Azores, where the sea sets the menu.
