Digital menus for bars and wine bars
A digital menu for a bar is the drinks and petiscos list published as a web page that guests open with the QR code on the table or bar. In a bar the light is low, the music is loud and the list changes with the season — all reasons to put it on the phone of whoever is reading it.

Lists that change: cocktails, wines by the glass, gins
The wine by the glass that ran out, the seasonal cocktail, the craft beer that arrived this week. A bar list changes more often than many restaurant menus. On a digital menu each drink has a name, description, strength or grape, and price, and goes on or off the list instantly.
For a wine bar, put region, grape and producer in the description, and the glass and bottle prices as options of the same wine. Foreign guests appreciate a line explaining what a vinho verde, a Douro red or a Setúbal moscatel is.
Sulphites and other allergens in drinks
Wine almost always contains sulphites, one of the 14 mandatory allergens. Cocktails may contain egg (egg-white foam), milk, nuts (almond liqueurs) or gluten (beers). The allergen guide explains what the law requires, and in Platerio each drink can carry its allergens just like any dish.
Petiscos and happy hour
Boards, bifanas, pica-pau, octopus, cheeses: bar food is made of petiscos with Portuguese names. Explain them in each language. For happy hour, create its own section and put the times in the title.
Beach bars in the Algarve, poncha bars in Madeira and rooftops in Lisbon serve almost entirely foreign crowds — see the recommended languages on each page.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to list sulphites in wine?
Yes. Sulphur dioxide and sulphites are among the 14 allergens of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011, and wine almost always contains them.
How do I show glass and bottle prices?
As two options of the same wine, each with its own price.
Does a digital menu work in low light?
Yes. Guests read it on their phone screen, at the brightness they like, and can enlarge the text.
