Digital menus for restaurants in Portugal

A digital menu is a restaurant menu published as a web page: guests scan the QR code on the table and read the dishes, prices and allergens on their phone, with nothing to install. Here you will find what changes from city to city and from one kind of place to another — which languages to offer, which dishes to explain and how to lay the menu out.

Updated October 2026

Why the menu changes from region to region

In 2024, according to Statistics Portugal (INE), 81.6% of nights in Greater Lisbon and 85.3% in Madeira were spent by foreign guests, against 32.0% in the Centro region and 33.7% in the Alentejo. A tasca in Coimbra mostly serves Portuguese diners; a restaurant in Funchal mostly serves visitors. The menu has to suit whoever sits at the table.

So each city page sets out the region’s main visitor markets, which languages make sense and which local dishes need a line of explanation. The pages by type of place cover the rest: a tasca’s dish of the day, a seafood restaurant’s prices per kilo, a pastry shop’s breakfasts.

What Platerio does for any restaurant

Upload the menu you already have — a PDF, a photo, a spreadsheet, text or your website link — and the AI sorts it into sections, dishes and prices. You review, correct and publish. The menu is translated automatically into up to 30 languages, keeping each dish’s original name with an explanation for guests who do not know it. The 14 allergens only appear once you have confirmed them.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a digital menu cost?

With Platerio you can start for free, with no card: one venue, up to 60 dishes and two languages. The Pro and Growth plans add more dishes, up to 30 languages and the AI assistant for guests; their prices are not final yet.

Do guests need an app?

No. They point the phone camera at the QR code and the menu opens in the browser, in the phone’s language when you offer it. Guests switch language with one tap.

Can I change prices after printing the QR code?

Yes. The QR code always points to the same menu; change prices, dishes and sold-out items in the dashboard and the menu updates without reprinting anything.
