QR code generator for your menu

Paste the link to your online menu. The QR code is made here in your browser and never expires.

How to print a QR code that works

  • Size: at least 2.5 to 3 cm across on a table; larger on a poster or in the window, which is read from further away.
  • Contrast: dark code on a light background. Avoid light colours, photo backgrounds and inverted codes.
  • Margin: leave white space around the code; the SVG already includes it.
  • Test before printing: scan it with two or three different phones, in low light.
  • Add a short line such as “Scan to see the menu”, in Portuguese and English.

Static or dynamic QR code

This generator makes a static QR code: the link is stored in the code itself. It works as long as the link works and depends on no service in between. The “dynamic” QR codes from some generators go through the company’s short link — if the service closes or starts charging, the code stops working.

With a digital menu like Platerio’s, the menu link never changes: you change dishes and prices in the dashboard and the same QR code keeps working.

Watch out for fake QR codes

There have been cases of fake QR codes stuck over real ones on tables and terraces, sending guests to fraudulent payment pages. Use a link with your restaurant’s name or a well-known service, check the codes on your tables now and then, and never ask for payment through the menu link.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code made here expire?

No. It is static and stores the link itself; as long as the link works, the code works.

Which format should I send to the print shop?

SVG. It is a vector format that can be enlarged without losing quality. Use PNG for documents and social media.

Can I use the generator for a PDF menu?

Yes, with any public link. But a PDF means reprinting the code whenever the file moves, and it reads badly on a phone; a digital menu solves both.
